Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of the Whereabuds app, made by Quang Trung Nguyen (“I”, “me”). Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies; if the two disagree, these terms apply only to the extent the Apple agreement allows.

1. What Whereabuds does, and doesn’t

Whereabuds estimates how close a Bluetooth device is from the strength of its signal. Signal strength changes with walls, bodies, metal and the device itself, so the zones are a guide, not a measurement. Whereabuds can’t hear devices that are switched off, out of battery, in a closed case or out of range, and it can’t guarantee that you will find anything.

Use it with care: watch where you walk, don’t search while driving, and don’t play the locating sound into headphones someone is wearing.

2. Your use

Use Whereabuds to look for your own things, or things you have permission to look for. Don’t use it to follow or locate people, or devices that aren’t yours or that you aren’t allowed to find.

3. Whereabuds Pro

Pro is a one-time in-app purchase made through Apple. It removes ads and unlocks the Pro features described in the app. Searching stays free for everyone. Refunds are handled by Apple; you can request one in the app (Settings → Pro → Request a refund) or at reportaproblem.apple.com. Family Sharing is supported.

4. Ads

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. See the Privacy Policy for what that involves.

5. Brands

Names of products and companies (AirPods, Galaxy Buds, Sony, Bose and others) are trademarks of their owners and are used only to describe compatibility. Whereabuds is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Brand tips describe the makers’ own tools as I understand them; they may change.

6. No warranty, limited liability

Whereabuds is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, I make no promises about it beyond those in Apple’s agreement, and I am not liable for lost or damaged property, or for indirect or consequential losses, arising from its use. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded, including the Australian Consumer Law.

7. Changes

I may update these terms; the date above will change. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
