How to find lost Galaxy Buds, on Android or iPhone
Samsung’s tools work best with a Galaxy phone. If you use your Buds with an iPhone, you have fewer options, and section 3 is for you.
Quick answer
- Galaxy phone: open SmartThings › Find, choose your Buds, then Ring or Navigate.
- iPhone: open the Samsung Galaxy Buds app › Find My Earbuds while they’re connected.
- Neither works? Go to where you last used them and search room by room with the Bluetooth signal.
1. On a Galaxy phone: SmartThings Find
- Open the SmartThings app and tap Find (or Life › Find, depending on your version).
- Choose your Galaxy Buds. If the earbuds are apart, pick the left or right one.
- If they’re nearby and connected, tap Ring. The beep gets gradually louder for a few minutes.
- If they’re not connected, the map shows where they were last seen and when. Tap Navigate to go there.
Offline finding lets other Galaxy devices nearby report where your Buds are, even when they’re far from your phone. It works on Galaxy Buds Live, Buds Pro, Buds2, Buds2 Pro and later, and has to be switched on in the Galaxy Wearable app. If you haven’t lost them yet, turn it on now.
2. On another Android phone
Use the Galaxy Wearable app: open it while the Buds are in range and tap Find My Earbuds › Start. Without a Samsung phone, there’s no offline map, so the last place you used them is your best clue.
3. On an iPhone
Install the Samsung Galaxy Buds app from the App Store. Open it with the Buds connected and tap Find My Earbuds › Start. The earbuds beep until you tap Stop. Not every model is supported on iPhone; check the app for yours.
The limit: the iPhone app can only ring Buds that are charged and connected, and it can’t show a map of where they were. If they’re not connecting, it’s time to search by signal.
4. Search room by room with the signal
Galaxy Buds that are out of the case and charged usually keep sending a faint Bluetooth signal, even when they’re not connected. Walls weaken it a lot, so compare rooms first, then walk slowly inside the strongest one.
Whereabuds brings this to iPhone for any brand, Galaxy Buds included. It shows how close you are in one word, from Far to Right here, ticks faster as you close in, and its Which room? check compares rooms for you. Free, no account.
Coming soon to the App Store5. When nothing can hear them
If your Buds are in a closed case or the battery is flat, no phone or app can hear them. Go to the last known location, then check sofa cushions, inside the duvet cover, coat pockets, the laundry basket and the gaps around car seats, with a torch held low.
Still missing? Samsung can sell you a single replacement earbud or case through its service centres, usually for much less than a new pair.
Common questions
Can I find Galaxy Buds with an iPhone?
Partly. The Samsung Galaxy Buds app for iPhone can ring supported Buds while they are connected. It cannot show offline Buds on a map; for that you need SmartThings Find on a Galaxy phone or tablet. A Bluetooth signal finder on the iPhone can help you search room by room.
Can you find Galaxy Buds that are dead or in the case?
Not by sound or signal. Use the last known location in SmartThings Find, then search by hand. Offline finding needs the Buds to have some charge.
